Adopt me: PETEY
Petey is a Patterdale Terrier, male, 25lbs, and somewhere between 2-4 years old. Petey has a heartbreaking look to him, which is probably because he was sadly surrendered by his dad because of "personal problems". Now, left without a home, he spends much of his day hiding under the covers. He is pretty good with some other dogs, currently living with 2 other male dogs, but unfortunately, we can't recommend him to a family with children. Despite that, he would make a great companion to some caring adults.

Adopt me: SOCRATES
Socrates pic by Matt Jourdian at shutter-pup.com
Little Socrates, a senior male Shih-Tzu, about 13 years old and an easily carried 17lbs. Socrates is a low maintenance dog. He was brought to a groomer by his family and after grooming, they did not pick him up. The groomer discovered that the phone number and address they had was false. They were located near a famous Italian bakery (Fortunato's), who are animal lovers and good friends of the BARC Shelter. They called us and we took in gentle little Socrates, sweeter than the blueberry cheesecake that accompanied him. He spends his time on the laps of volunteers, but he does enjoy going out for short walks. When he is out, he has a pep in his step that is adorable and he gets along fine with other dogs and cats, but you have to be careful that they don't jump on him. At his late age, Socrates is developing moles on his body, but they are not cancerous, so we are praying that we can find him a quiet home where he can live his final years in safety and with a loving family.

Adopt me: MOLLY and BELLA
This is Bella (blue leash) and Molly (red). Though they look like twin cocker spaniels, they are not related. Years ago, Molly was adopted from BARC and Bella from the ASPCA, but after their owners decided to have a baby, these little ladies were homeless once more. Molly can be spunky, especially with other dogs, but neither of them are dangerous. We would really like to find them a home together. Molly is 7 years old and Bella is 9 and they are inseparable. Both are about 25lbs.

Jupe was returned and is up for adoption
Jupe has had a rough life and would rather not be at the shelter, for his third try at a forever home. He has some fear issues and seems to get along better with men, but he is looking for a quiet and stress-free home to live out his life. Even though he is ten years old, he is in great shape and loves to go out for long walks. He just likes his own space. We don't recommend him in a home with children.
